This characterful office space in the heart of St Albans was designed in
collaboration with workplace consultancy
Area as a flexible, ready-to-rent workspace
for those seeking something with warmth and personality.
I led the
full interior design of the entire space, including
the entrance reception and four individual office suites.
The vision was to challenge the stale and soulless
norm of traditional office design. I wanted to prove that
workspaces can
be inspiring, comfortable and full of individuality.
To achieve this, I collaborated with local
artisans, independent suppliers
and antique dealers to source unique pieces and create bespoke joinery.
Many
elements were upcycled or repurposed to
minimise waste and bring depth and texture to the space.
The result is a layered, design-led workplace that feels grounded,
creative and far removed from the generic
office blueprint.
It offers a new perspective on how we design spaces to work.
